These are Modifications made in the kitchen of our T-160 Shadow Cruiser

My wife came up with this idea to get more counter space in our T-160.  After finding the sink cover on the floor so many times from it bouncing off during pulling of the trailer, and the fact that a sink cover just is not very convenient, she asked if I could make a drop leaf counter out of it.  With the nice finished edges on the cover, it was ideal for turning into an extension of the countertop.  I removed the four rubber feet.  Then I installed a backing board of 3/4 inch plywood behind the cabinet paneling to reinforce this area and provide a solid mounting for the shelf and bracket.  I used PL400 adhesive and simply glued the reinforcement pieces inside the cabinet and let that set up for two days.

Then I made the shelf edge support out of a piece of hardwood, which is the same depth as the drop leaf bracket needs for space behind the drop leaf when it is folded down.   This allows the counter extension to hang perefectly verticle when it is folded down.

I put three coats of varnish on this piece of hardwood before I mounted it.  I then mounted the hinges on this hardwood after I mounted the wood to the side of the cabinet.  Next, I put the sink cover in place horizontally and fasten the other side of the hinges to it from underneath, making sure that the sink cover edge was tight against the counter top edge.  Lastly, I mounted the drop leaf bracket, which is a Stanley brand from Home Depot by carefully following the mounting instructions on the package (make sure this former sink cover is perfectly horizontal to match the plane of the countertop).

Yes, of  course, when it is up it does block the door somewhat, but we are thin folks, and we can still squeeze by with it in the up position.  We use it when preparing meals and doing the dishes.

This is a new spout i put on the T160 original sink faucet. It makes a big difference in keeping water away from the rear counter. it is 8" long and the water outlet is the same height from the sink as the old spout. We hated the original bar style spout, whenever we washed hands or rinsed dishes alot of water went on the counter around the faucet.

You MUST use the nylon retainer sleeve and white retaining nut from the original spout. The retainer ring and nut with the new spout will not hold the spout deep enough into the body of the faucet. Remove the little white nylon retainer ring and the retainer nut from the new spout and put the old ones on, making sure that you also still have the o-ring in place before installation. Put a few wraps of plumber's teflon tape around the original nylon retainer sleeve, this takes the wobble out of the spout once it is installed. if the spout still wobbles, remove it and do a few more wraps of teflon tape.

This spout is available from http://www.Dyersonline.com for 11.59 and is their stock number 86-8815. It is also available from http://www.mhrv.com and their stock number is PF-9507CD for 10.95. The phoenix part number is 95078. Anyone can install one of these, it is very simple.
